Its not that the promoters are cheapskates. It takes money to make money, and when you don’t get enough heads thru the door you lose money. Promoters could hike up their prices but they are already to high for the talent that local promoters are bringin in. The shows Global Dance does in KC are pricey but you get better talent. Local promoters barely make enough cash to pay for everything. You have to pay for a venue, insurance, security, sound, lights, and talent (the price for the headliner is not cheap. You have to pay their way their, feed them get them a hotel n what ever else they want). Most of the show is paid for by time it starts. By the way KC locals dontmake shit, but its ok we do it for the music.
Take a look at how many parties go on in KC. Something is going on damn near every weekend. Most shows are $15 unless it is a Global Dance show then the price for your ticket goes up. By the way lets do the math. A show done by local crews usually gets no more then 350 heads thru the door (atendees on facebook events page are not accurate) Multiply that by 15. Thats how much they brough in to cover expenses, and hope you at least make it back.
NONE of the local promoters started with money it took time.

If local promoters would work together towards the bigger picture then they could build up enough to bring in high price talent. Here is this method….
Cut down the ammount of shows. Work together, you take this month i get next month. Each party gets bigger and bigger, and at the end of the year work together for a massive.
By the way… their is a pretty sick after party being announced tomorrow…
I went broke throwing shows in KC. I feel for the local promoters and hope the best for them.

I don’t think people realize all the hard work and money that goes into putting on a good show. I also wish more promoters could get past the ego and work towards the bigger picture.
Education is a must. The torch HAS to be passed on. If the torch does not get passed on the culture can not grow. If the culture is not allowed to grow it could grow to be stagnant.
I was honestly worried about coming off as a dick in my post.
